what quelk is

quelk is a coin on solana and a creature on a white page. the two are the same object seen two ways. the coin has a fixed supply of one billion tokens. the creature has 2,400 cells. each cell stands for one 2,400th of that supply, which is 416,666.67 tokens. nothing about the creature is drawn by hand after launch. its colors, its holes, and its bone are read from the chain every second and shown as they are.

cells

the body is a fixed template. the template never grows or shrinks. what changes is what each cell is made of. a cell is flesh when a wallet holds its slice. a cell is reserve when the pool still holds its slice and that slice has never been sold by anyone. a cell is a hole when a wallet sold its slice and no one has bought it back yet. a cell is bone when the marrow bought the slice and burned it. four materials, one body, always 2,400.

placement

cells are numbered by their distance from the body's center of mass, nearest first. wallets are sorted by how many cells they hold, largest first. the largest wallet takes the lowest free numbers, then the next wallet, and so on. the result is that the heart of the creature is its biggest holders and the tips of its tail and toes are its smallest. a new buyer appears where the free numbers are, which is usually the extremities. as it buys more it moves inward.

selling

a sell removes cells from the seller starting with its highest numbered cell. those cells fall to the floor and join the queue in the order they fell. the body shows a hole where each one was. the tokens went into the pool, but they are tracked separately from the pool's original reserve, so the site always knows how many tokens on the pool side came from a sell.

the marrow

the coin's creator fees are claimed to a program account with no private key. its balance is the marrow. the program has one instruction. anyone may call it at any time. it looks at the oldest unpaid cell on the floor, swaps exactly that cell's worth of tokens out of the pool using the marrow's lamports, burns the tokens, and writes the cell as bone. the caller pays only the network fee. if the marrow cannot afford a full cell the instruction fails cleanly. there is no timer, no epoch, no keeper schedule. it happens when someone calls it and the marrow can pay.

bone

a bone cell is backed by nothing anyone holds, because the tokens were burned. it cannot be sold. it sits in its original place on the body in grey. the fossil fraction is the share of the body that is bone. the creature is finished when that fraction reaches one. at that point the circulating supply is zero and the floor is empty.

tone

every flesh cell carries the tone of its wallet. tone is the wallet's current balance divided by the highest balance this site has recorded for it. a wallet that only ever bought is at full color. a wallet that sold part of its position is paler in proportion. the body shows its own history without a chart.

what the site reads

price comes from birdeye once per second. the fill stream comes from birdeye once per second and is applied to a local copy of every wallet balance. every thirty seconds the site re reads all token accounts from solana directly and reconciles. supply, the marrow balance, and the program's own log lines come from solana directly once per second. the value shown at the top is price multiplied by current supply, in dollars, and nothing else.

what the site does not do

it does not let you trade, connect, vote, filter, or toggle. it does not post anywhere. it does not show a ticker. it does not run on a clock. it is a window onto one body and one rule.
